Patwoods The Homemaker Franchise

In the height of rampant illegal logging operation in the virgin forests land of Mindanao sometime in 1989, MR. PATRICIO AMADEO, saw an opportunity in the need to grow trees for commercial use. He availed of the Industrial Forest Plantation program sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources and became IFMA holder nos. 20, 40 and 06 (Industrial Forest Plantation Manage-ment Agreement). He planted Gmelina arborea R. Br in the open, denuded brushlands of Blagan and Data! Saluan in rboli and Malungon, South Cotabato and converted them into a thriving Industrial Tree Plantation, thus the birth of PHELA RESOURCES CORPORATION.

To fully develop the potential of the Gmelina as an alternative to naturally grown trees (Lauan, Apitong , Yakal & other forest trees), Phela Resources Corporation, through the leadership of Mr. Patricio L Amadeo had decided to put up a wood working plant in 1995. At this point in time, the planted trees of the Tree Plantation were still young, but there were numerous tree farms that were already harvestable. Phela Resources Corporation-Wood Processing Division started manufacturing mouldings, kitchen cabinet doors, French windows and other woodworking products using Gmelina specie. On May 2006, Phela Resources Corporation- Wood Processing Division was given a separate entity as PATWOODS PROCESSING INC.

It was a very hard start, numerous difficulties and failures have been encountered, but through the relentless effort and determination of Mr. Patricio L. Amadeo and his son, Eduardo Amadeo, who eventually took over the business, Patwoods Processing Inc is now the leader in manufacturing Gmelina wood-working products, with nationwide distribution in the biggest home depots like CitiHardware, Wilcon Builders Supply, Ortigas Home Depot and Cebu Over-sea Hardware. It also gave the local market an option to use an environment friendly wood material in the construction business as well other wood-based requirements. Consumers likewise began to accept commercially grown trees to replace the endangered forest trees because of its comparable price and quality.
