Pinoydon Rice Bowls is the brainchild of Deanne Deanne Panno-Montoya. The idea started with Rice Bowls which in Japanese means “Donburr. To give the traditional Japanese ‘Donburi” a twist, she thought of using Pinoy ingredients.. hence the name “Pinoydon”. short for Pinoy Donburi.
As soon as the concept materialized in Deanne Deane’s mind, she immediately put her team together, and the rest.. .as they say, is history. With the help of current partners. Alain Panlilio Martin Litton and Jane Cruz Walker, the initial “Pinoydon Rice Bowls” opened at the 5th level of the Podium in Ortigas Avenue. At that time, the menu consisted of Pinoy sushis. pinoy donbuii. and a few specialty dishes.
Fortunately, the concept clicked. After just a few months, the tiny 60 square meter space at the Podium was developing already quite a following. And because of its unique and innovative concept, we created a stir and received our fair share of media mileage.
