Chapter 411 A Series of Ignores
"You see, I'm just an ordinary girl. If you don't think I'm that interesting, you can tell me."
"Anyway, you said that I could ask you anything and you would answer me."
Melissa lowered her head, her voice unusually calm.
She also felt that Xia Er might have never met people from the countryside before, and if she found out that Xia Er was actually quite ordinary, she would lose interest.
"Goddess above, I see you as a younger sister, not a lover, so what's this about being interesting or not?"
Is it that complicated?
"You can think of me as a neighbor you see occasionally; just say hello politely when you do."
"I'm a polite person too. If you greet me, I'll greet you back, won't I?"
Xia'er was actually grateful that this was a world with gods. The phrase "Goddess above" was much more credible than things like "May I be struck by lightning" or "I swear on my ancestors for eighteen generations."
Melissa clearly believed that the bishop of the Church of the Night would not joke about the goddess of the night.
So she inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief. Now it was her turn to look at Xia Er in confusion, not understanding what Xia Er was doing and what the point of doing this was.
Even if it's really interesting, out of so many girls, why choose her?
She's not pretty, and her face is quite ordinary.
"Your brother is Klein, that's our destiny."
Seeing that Melissa wasn't moving, Chael pushed his bicycle and let the girl follow beside him.
He had no idea that when Klein heard Shael mention his name, the already turbulent emotions in his heart rose to an even higher level.
"I still don't believe you two have such a good relationship."
"You haven't known each other for very long."
Melissa clearly didn't really trust this excuse.
Klein, standing in the distance, nodded repeatedly. He wasn't familiar with "Little Maynard" at all; the two had only worked together on one mission.
"You don't understand. I'm very lazy. I only like to water the flowers that face the sun and wait for them to bloom on their own."
Chael made up some reasons on the spot.
"You've given this reason before."
Melissa complained about Chael's lack of effort.
"Does it matter? I won't interfere with your studies, your private life, or your life's direction."
"What pressure could you possibly be under? At most, you'll have to listen to a few of my nagging."
When Xia Er and Melissa arrived at their destination, he parked his bicycle and then carried the groceries upstairs with Melissa.
At this time in Backlund, the bicycle theft industry had not yet emerged, which was a welcome development, although Chael felt that perhaps it wouldn't be long before it became a market.
Benson said that accomplished gentlemen like to help women in need. They may not care about monetary rewards, but enjoy the gratitude and sense of accomplishment from the women.
Melissa opened the door and spoke even more bluntly, her words hitting the nail on the head.
"More or less."
"Aren't you the same? You eat at home by yourself, but if you share food with me, and I praise your cooking skills, you'll definitely prefer the latter, right?"
"It's also true that I'm sharing some of my privileges with you. I don't need them myself, but if you can make good use of them and they can help your life, I'll be very happy."
Xia Er quite enjoyed this simple life; it was much more interesting than playing Pai Gow with the Goddess of Night in the Dark Heaven.
"I think I understand now."
Melissa put on an apron, took the ingredients from Chael, and nodded thoughtfully.
Xia Er didn't help. He sat on the sofa in the living room reading the newspaper. He guessed that Mr. Fool had calmed down and clearly realized that he would not harm Melissa.
Therefore, Mr. Fool was able to live a life of great wealth with peace of mind.
Unfortunately, he was wrong. If the bishop of the Church of the Night hadn't disappeared, it would have affected Melissa.
Klein even wanted to sell Shael to a plantation in the Southern Continent.
After finishing the lunch her sister had carefully prepared, Xia Er didn't linger and naturally got up to leave.
He had already said there was no need to see him off, but Melissa still insisted on seeing him to her doorstep. After all, she still had some respect for this "uninvited brother," and sometimes, she found it even easier to get along with Xia Er than with Benson.
"This isn't bad..."
As Melissa was thinking this to herself and was about to close the door, a man in an inexpensive suit appeared in front of her.
She subconsciously looked up, not very high, but the person who came was no more than 1.7 meters tall, with delicate features and a scholarly air.
"Klein???"
"No, I must have seen wrong."
When Melissa recognized Klein, just as Klein was about to explain, Melissa chose to close the door immediately.
This left Mr. Fool, who had finally mustered the courage to use the opportunity to claim kinship, completely dumbfounded.
He even subconsciously wanted to pry open the door; if he wasn't worried about scaring Melissa, he definitely would have done so.
Melissa will surely open the door again to check in a few seconds, right?
That's what Klein was thinking, but he couldn't get the visual inspiration he needed.
He waited outside the door for five minutes, but the door remained tightly closed, and Melissa acted as if she hadn't seen him at all.
Knock on the door?
Klein raised his hand, somewhat bewildered; the rehearsed speech was now completely useless.
He was curious to know why Melissa's personality had changed so much.
He absolutely refused to believe it was because of Xia Er; it hadn't been that long!
dong dong!
Klein knocked on the door anyway.
"Who is it?"
A girl's puzzled voice came from behind the door.
"Um, Melissa, it's me, Klein, I didn't..."
Klein was quite embarrassed, but before he could finish speaking, the voice behind the door disappeared, and his spiritual senses told him that Melissa had left.
Why is this happening?
This dealt a critical blow to Klein, who had made up his mind to tear off his disguise and briefly return to his family.
He manipulated the Blood General's puppet, passing through the wall and entering the Moretti family's rented apartment. Melissa was reading a book in her room, her brows furrowed, holding a Black Night Holy Symbol in her hand, but her attention was still absorbed in the book.
This left Klein unsure of what to do.
He can't possibly use the Blood General title to disguise himself, can he?
There's no such thing as forcibly claiming kinship...
After much deliberation, Klein decided to wait a few more hours.
If he remembered correctly, Melissa was still scheduled to return to Backlund University of Technology that afternoon.
Time passed by like this...
When it was almost time, Melissa packed her things, opened the door, and was relieved to find nothing dirty outside. After all, it was still noon, and the sun was so bright; where would a ghost come from?
She walked out of the apartment, ready to ride her bicycle, and then saw her deceased brother, Klein, standing next to the bicycle.
Come again?
Melissa pretended not to see anything, and instead of riding her bicycle, she walked in the sunlight towards St. Samuel's Cathedral.
Klein, having been ignored for the third time, felt no emotion whatsoever.
